Bangalore, Jan 14 (IANS) The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has appealed to Kannada film producers not to release simultaneously the two forthcoming films of legendary actor Vishnuvardhan, who died recently.
“Kannada film producers should try to avoid competition with the films to facilitate their big success,” Jayamala, President of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and Sa. Ra. Govindoo, Treasurer of the KFCC, said in their appeal.
Vishnuvardhan’s “School Master” is his 199th film and “Aaptha Rakshaka” is his 200th.
“School Master”, produced by C.R. Manohar and directed by Dinesh Baboo, is all set to be released Jan 22. The film has talented actress Suhasini Manirathnam playing an important role along with Vishnu who plays the protagonist. The music has been composed by Sridhar.
“Aaptha Rakshaka” is a Kannada horror film starring Vishnuvardhan, Vimala Raman, Avinash, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy and Komal in the lead roles. It a sequel to Vishnuvardhan’s 2004 blockbuster “Aaptha Mithra” (which was later remade in Tamil and Telugu as “Chandramukhi”, starring Rajnikanth, Nayantara, Jyotika and Prabhu in the main roles).
However, Kannada film producers want to release their films before the examination period that starts in the middle of February.
Actor Sudeep says that imposing such restrictions on the release of films may not be the best way to pay tribute to the great actor who has entertained millions of fans during his career.
“I am also a great fan of Vishnu sir. But the film chamber should not decide the dates for the release of films. I do not think Vishnu’s forthcoming releases would be affected just because another film would be released on the same day or a week after,” says the actor who has two films, including Hindi movie “Rann” directed by Ram Gopal Varma, ready for release on Jan 29.
Sudeep’s directorial venture “Just Maath Maathnalli” is also getting released Feb 5.
Producer-Director Dayal Padmanabhan says that his film “Sree Harikathe” will be released on Jan 22, as planned earlier.
“I really did not know that Vishnu sir’s ‘Aaptha Rakshaka’ is getting released on that day. But I had planned the release much earlier. I do not know whether the first print of “School Master” is ready or not. But I am ready with my film’s release,” says Padmanabhan.
