London, June 22 (IANS) Rapper Kanye West’s on-off girlfriend Amber Rose has praised him for “saving” her life and helping to kick-start her modelling career.
Rose grew up in poverty in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but shot to fame last year when she began dating West and the couple became a mainstay at red carpet events, reports contactmusic.com.

The couple, who briefly split last summer, were recently rumoured to have parted ways once again - but that hasn’t stopped the model from crediting the hip-hop star with boosting her career opportunities.

“Honestly, Kanye saved my life, and I don’t even think about what I would have been; I just think about what I’m going to be,” she told YRB Magazine.

Rose refuses to let her newfound star status inflate her ego and she’s constantly amazed when fans recognise her on the street.

“I don’t look at myself as a celebrity. I’m just a dope chick from South Philly! I mean, it’s crazy when fans come up to me and cry and just want a hug from me. It bugs me out! But it’s really cool,” she said.

But the constant paparazzi presence has begun to irk her and she struggles with anxiety every time a photographer is near.

“Sometimes it does get overwhelming because, for example, I like to be on the beach with my man with no top on. I’m very comfortable with my body. But there’s no privacy - that’s the only thing that overwhelms me. Every time I see a light flash, I think it’s the paparazzi. Those f****** give me anxiety.”

Rose landed a contract with top modeling agency Ford Models last summer after posing nude with West to promote his new sneaker line with Louis Vuitton.
