Sep 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Rapper Kanye West was by far the most talked about artists before the VMAs this year after his controversial actions in the awards last year. With fans all over expecting some kind of drama this year as well between the country star and the rapper, this years VMAs turned out to be a much tamed event where the highlights were only the performances and the winners. Among some of the performers Taylor Swift who sang the song ‘Innocent’ which many felt was directed at the ‘Love Lockdown’ star as a token of forgiveness. Kanye West performed towards the end of the evening and his song was slightly more aggressive in nature called ‘Runaway’.

The Kanye West-Taylor Swift incident last year became the center of media attention right before the VMAs this year. The Taylor Swift performance started off with a montage of the 2009 incident when Kanye West snatched the mic from her during an acceptance speech and claimed that Beyonce Knowles deserved the award. Overnight Kanye West transformed from a rap sensation to a villain in the eyes of the media and all fans of country music and Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift on the other hand became the innocent victim of a bling savvy rapper’s whims. At the VMAs this year, Taylor Swift left some of the things unsaid but her lyrics ensured that the fans and Kanye West got the message.

Among some of the lyrics that hinted towards Kanye West in ‘Innocent’ were the lines where Taylor Swift sang that at 32 one is still growing up and no matter what the actions, one is innocent.
