kaminey-207x300The Vishal Bhardwaj directed “Kaminey” has hit theaters on Friday, August 14, 2009. Most of those who have gone in for the movie in the first half of the day have given their verdict on the film. It is an absolute delight and Bhardwaj has once again being successful in his attempt to portray something unique and different in Indian cinema.

Most amazingly, “Kaminey” is as different as any Bollywood movie has ever come by and unpredictability is the movie’s USP. Every minute is a different twist and narration.

Twin brothers, Charlie and Guddu (Shahid Kapoor) suffer from speech impediments and don’t see eye to eye on any matter under the sun. Guddu is the caricature of good and has decent plans for his life’s progress. He works in a NGO and is in love with the effervescent Sweety (Priyanka Chopra) but is unaware of the fact that she is the sister of a powerful gangster-politician by the name of Bhope (Amol Gupte), whose wrath he invites after impregnating Sweety.

Charlie is the shadier of the two brothers and decides early in life that the quick way to money and success is never achieved by means of straight paths. He chances on his luck by fluke when he lays his hand on a guitar that contains cocaine worth 10 crore. Here on clashes the paths of the two brothers as they dash through the roads of Mumbai’s underbelly.

Every character in the movie successfully manages to carve a niche for themselves, which is the other reason beside the narration that makes the movie a rare gem. Music is obviously a feature too, with the track “Dhan Tana” gaining huge popularity already, but a movie like “Kaminey” needs no tool to push it ahead, its got enough of the required stuff to make it settle well with the audience.
