Singing sensation Justin Timberlake was honored at the Creative Arts Primetime Emmys, that was held on Saturday. The pop star’s award comes along with the 72 others that were mostly awarded in the technical category. This was the creative arts portion of the Emmys, the most coveted of the US television awards, that honor the technical aspects involved with television. 28 other awards in high profile categories will be given out during the hosting of the live broadcast of the event of the Emmy Awards on September 20.
Along with Timberlake, actress Tina Fey also won an Emmy at the ceremony held on Saturday. Both the celebrities won their respective awards from their guest appearances on the NBC network immensely popular sketch comedy series of “Saturday Night Live”. Fey had won her award for her outstanding impersonation of former Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, on the series. The former N Sync member also won for his guest appearance for the SNL, taking home the award for the best guest actor in a comedy series.
While accepting her award, Fey mentioned the name of the SNL producer Lorne Michaels in the thank you list. She also included the names of her parents in the thank you section, saying.. “my parents, who are lifelong Republicans, for their patience.” The former governor also found a mentions in her speech, when Fey said, “This would not be possible without Mrs. Palin..[who is] an inspiration to working mothers everywhere.”
On collecting his Emmy statuette, Timberlake emerged as the first host in the SNL history to have claimed the honor. He was however unavailable to accept the award, as was Mihacel J. Fox (won for guest actor in “Rescue Me”).
