julie-and-julia-poster-1Julie Powell couldn’t have expected a more grand way for her career and life to have succeeded. “Julie & Julia”, that hit the theater on Friday, August 7, has achieved that milestone for her. The breezy and frothy movie about the life of the Julie and Julia, separated by almost half a century, and their passionate love for cooking has been very well told in the movie. Powell, launches on to her blog writing career after being inspired by Child’s cook book.

For Julie Powell, from being just a food blogger and ardent Julia Child fan, being turned in to a Hollywood celeb is obviously a much delightful journey. Nora Ephron’s movie “Julie & Julia” brings the two autobiographical story of Julia Child and Julie Powell together, to weave a beautiful tale, one that is sure enough to touch a cord deep within the viewers.

The other great thing about the movie is the excellent star cast, including big Hollywood names like Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Stanley Tucci and Chris Messina, which is certainly, one of the biggest draw of the movie. Meryl Streep as Julia Child (a role for which Ms. Streep had piled on a little weight) is the highlight of the film. She goes with the flow and portrays onscreen the reason why Julia Child still remains an inspiration.

Actress Amy Adams essays the role of the Julia Child “Mastering The Art Of French Cooking” cookbook obsessed Julie Powell. Though the characters of Julia and Julie never meet, their bonding is evident in their passion. However, the only backlog is, in front of Julia Child’s story, Powell’s just fades away a little. Nevertheless, its a delightful tale well told.
