Los Angeles, Aug 10 (DPA) A Los Angeles judge Monday gave the go-ahead for a film about the late Michael Jackson and his last preparations for the concert tour that never happened.
Judge Mitchell Beckloff approved the deal between Columbia Studio, the concert sponsor AEG Live and Jackson’s estate, the entertainment news portal Tmz.com reported.
Katherine Jackson, the mother of the “King of Pop” who died in June of cardiac arrest at age 50, also gave her green light to the project, her lawyer said.
The film is to include video material taken at Jackson’s last pre-concert rehearsal shortly before his death June 25. Further details were not known.
In July, the Hollywood Reporter reported that the film is expected to run in cinemas by the end of October. Production costs were estimated at $60 million. Director Kenny Ortega (High School Musical), who was to have directed Jackson’s planned comeback series of concerts in London, is to direct the film, Variety newspaper reported.
