Jordan Sparks Returns To American Idol on WednesdayMay 14th, 2009 - 4:24 pm ICT by GD
American Idol is heating up. It went long back from just three men trying to become America’s next singing sensation to a show that rules homes and dining table conversations. Danny impressed the judges, but not the crew, Kris ran into troubled waters with Randy and Kara’s song so sang a Kanye West song flawlessly and Adam mesmerized with U2’s One.
Alicia Keys took the stage to get viewers to make $5 donations for the Keep A Child Alive foundation and a Rwandan boy learned all the English words for “I’m the World’s Greatest” to perform the song as a prelude to his album in aid of the AIDS affected children in his country. The next guest touched base after two years. Yes, we are talking about the sixth American Idol winner who went on to become a platinum selling artist…Jordin Sparks! She sang her new song “Battlefield” from her yet-untitled sophomore effort with her co-writer Ryan Tedder on the piano. The song is now available exclusively at the Apple iTunes Store and will soon be available elsewhere too.
Ryan, who accompanied Sparks on the Piano is the lead vocalist for the rock band OneRepublic and is known for Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love”. Sparks, meanwhile, is slated to be touring this summer along with Honor Society as part of The Jonas Brothers’ World Tour that begins in Dallas in July. The next one to perform on the show was Katy Perry with her latest single “Waking up in Vegas” and wearing what looked like a hand-me-down outfit from ol’ Elvis.
