Jonathan Waxman In “Top Chef Masters”

top-chef-masters-1This week’s celebrity chef guest in the Bravo network’s immensely popular show “Top Chef Masters” included some of the best known names in the world of cuisines. The four chef masters who were present on the episode to battle it out with each other to claim the winner’s trophy were Jonathan Waxman (who owns Baruto), Roy Yamaguchi (owner of over 37 restaurants spread across the coast), Art Smith (of Table 52 and Art and Soul) and Michael Cimarusti (Providence).

The competition was healthy enough on the episode and all the chefs seemed to enjoy their presence on the show very much, which was made evident by the camaraderie they shared with each other while on their task of cooking up the allotted dish.

It was also revealed that two of the master chefs also had a common link between them; Cimarusti, in his younger days when his career was just taking shape as a chef, had supposedly worked for Waxman. Cimarusti won the quickfire round after his concoction of chocolate parfait earned him a neat 5 stars from the judge’s panel. Jonathan Waxman fared badly in the challenge, securing a meager 3.5 stars. Roy gets 4 stars and Art finishes second with 4.5 stars.

The elimination round saw the contestants gift each other with difficult ingredients to cook up a dish for the critics as well as the group of culinary student present on the show.

In the end, Art (who has cooked for the likes of Oprah and President Obama) wins the night with his presentation of the Southern style bacon. Jonathan (his eatery Jams in NYC had Julia Child and James Beard swooning), who is regarded as a sort of a legend in the culinary world, had 20 stars.
