Jon Stewart Gets His Own Back, Slams Rick Sanchez
October 4th, 2010 - 6:56 pm ICT by Pen Men At WorkOctober 4, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Jon Stewart managed to slam Rick Sanchez, the former CNN anchor on Saturday. Stewart, himself a host of ‘Night of Too Many Stars’ on Comedy Central and the ‘Daily Show’ lashed out at Sanchez for calling him a bigot and suggesting that Jews controlled the media.
The Hollywood reporter carried Stewart’s monologue delivered at the Beacon Theater, New York which stated that people would want to hold on to their money if you went on radio and announced that Jews controlled the media.
CNN had fired Sanchez for taking a pot shot at Stewart by calling him prejudiced before going on to attack his own network. Sanchez had been speaking on ‘Stand Up!’ a show on Sirius XM radio. His objective had been to promote his book ‘Conventional idiocy’ with Pete Dominick. He went on to say that Stewart, CNN and a lot of other networks were all similar intent on proving to the world that the Jewish in the country are oppressed.
David Letterman also joined in slamming the disgraced Sanchez while appearing in the ‘Night of Too Many Stars’. Letterman also joked saying that he was in the town helping Rick to clean out his office for good. Jon Stewart, on the other hand said that they were willing to have him back provided he apologizes to them.
Stewart is expected to address the entire controversy on his next show of the ‘Daily News’ which will be aired on Monday at 11 P.M. on Comedy Central.
However, it is not only Stewart, Sanchez’s remarks have incensed a lot of other people too triggering off a wave of criticisms throughout the Internet. While Washington Monthly’s Steve Benen called him idiotic as well as offensive, Ben Smith of Politico said that Sanchez was seething with resentment.
