evan2Mar 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Much acclaimed actor Jon Hamm would have been the perfect choice to play the role of Captain America in the upcoming Marvel flick, according to comic book artist Alex Ross. Although now actor Chris Evans has been selected to play the role of the cartoon superhero, the comic book artist had earlier emphasized that the “Mad Men” star was the only actor appropriately fitted to play the popular cartoon superhero.

Alex Ross has revealed to a news source that all the actors who had been considered to play the role of Captain America had hardly been successful in impressing him. The reputed comic book artist, who was instrumental in giving a brand new look to Captain America for the Marvel Comics, had implied that if 39 year old Jon Hamm is not selected to play the part of Captain America, the decision could be best described as crazy. Alex Ross further went on to say that the Marvel Comics superhero character is the patriarch of the marvel universe and selecting someone in his early twenties to play the role would only highlight where the character commenced rather then pointing out what he finally needs to become.

Meanwhile, before 28 year old actor Chris Evans was selected to play the role of the cartoon superhero in the forthcoming flick “The First Avenger: Captain America”, a number of other actors were being considered for the role which included Ryan Phillippe, Channing Tatum, Mike Vogel among others. The much anticipated Joe Johnston directed flick is all set to hit theaters in the month of July, 2011.
