New York City, Feb 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Johnny Depp is all set to appear on the CBS show ’48 Hours Mystery’ in order to defend the convicted murders – West Memphis Three. This episode is all set to air on Saturday, and it wants the case to be investigated again.
In a preview of the show, Johnny Depp says that the trial wasn’t totally fair to them, as it focused too much on the teenager’s fascination with the heavy metal music and novels by Stephen King. The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star also thinks that the trio didn’t get a fair trial, at the hands of justice. The show also says that the police officials misplaced some of the DNA samples, and also didn’t do a thorough investigation on other possible suspects. “I firmly believe Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley are totally innocent. It was a need for swift justice to placate the community,” Depp says. “Damien Echols is on death row to be killed by lethal injection.” Whereas the other culprits Baldwin and Misskelley are sentenced to life in jail.
It may be recalled that the West Memphis Three is a trio, who was found guilty of the murder of three eight-year-old boys during a satanic ritual in Arkansas in 1994.
