Johnny Depp to Start Shooting ‘Dark Shadows’ in Spring

Nov 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actor Johnny Depp, star of such movies as ‘Edward Scissorhands’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, and ‘Alice in Wonderland’, made an announcement recently that he hoped to start shooting ‘Dark Shadows’ sometime this year. While he won’t quite meet his deadline, the adaptation of the dark and mysterious soap opera from the 1960’s is due to begin filming sometime in the spring of 2011.

According to a report from ‘Deadline’, Johnny Depp and the director, Tim Burton are planning the begin the shooting in April, a few months later than the goal of January. John August began working on the script, but passed the torch on to Seth Grahame-Smith, author of ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ in July.

The original ‘Dark Shadows’ was a gothic-type daytime drama which ran from 1966 to 1971 on ‘ABC’. The storyline was based in a vampire, Barnabas Collins, which was played by Jonathan Frid. Depp has longed to play the part for quite a while, and will soon get his wish.
