Johnny Depp to star in remake of ‘The Thin Man’

Los Angeles, May 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) “Pirate of the Caribbean” star Johnny Depp is reportedly getting ready to appear in the remake of the movie “The Thin Man.” Depp is currently awaiting the release of the “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” which is expected at the theaters on the 20th of May.

Rob Marshall who worked with Depp on the “Pirates of the Caribbean” is going to direct the new movie. He released a statement expressing his joy about the new movie. He was particularly happy that Depp is going to be part of the project. The reports say the movie will be released in 2013.

The movie was first released in 1934. Depp has been confirmed for the role which was originally played by William Powell. Depp’s character, Nick Charles, is the main character of the movie. In the movie, Nick plays the role of a detective who solves murder cases for a hobby. After successfully solving each murder, Nick holds a party and reveals his findings during the dinner.

This is not the only project that Depp is involved in. It was recently announced that he will play the role of Tonto in the giant screen adaptation of the classic US TV show “The Lone Ranger.”
