Nov. 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Hollywood adventure film freaks simply love the character of Captain Jack Sparrow, made famous by Johnny Depp in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film series. The three films in the series of the sea based fantasy adventure have proved to be extremely popular with the global cine viewers, grossing over $2.5 billion worldwide. Naturally, the fans of the movie series went berserk when it was announced that the 4th installment named “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” will be released in the summer of 2011. As one can expect, Johnny Depp will essay the role of the eccentric captain of the Black Pearl.

However, the project faced rough weather as the studio chief departed and this made Depp a bit hesitant. According to the industry buzz, Rob Marshall, who has directed cult movies like “Chicago” will direct the new Pirates film. In a recent interview, Marshall said that he is likely to direct the upcoming “Pirates” film. He also said that the prospect of working with a stalwart actor like Depp has made him immensely excited. The earlier three films in the series were directed by Gore Verbinski. Marshall belongs to a different school of film direction and this may have an impact on the fourth movie.

Since Marshall has a penchant for making musicals as well, some people in the industry are wondering if the fourth film will have a singing and dancing Captain Sparrow. Marshall has not confirmed any such possibility. However, he is pretty charged up about working with Depp. The actor has reportedly been paid a whopping $33.6 million for his role.
