johnny-depp_lNew York, Feb 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp has voiced his concern and support for the West Memphis Three case which involves three teenagers who have been accused of killing three kids in a grotesque manner. The ghastly incident took place way back in 1994. The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor is all set to appear in ‘48 Hours Mystery’ of CBS to give support to the trio- Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin. He recently said in a statement that he believes all three teenagers are innocent. Among them, Damien Echols has been given a death sentence while the other two have been given life sentences.

Before Johnny Depp, the convicted teenagers got the support of, Winona Ryder, Eddie Vedder etc. The involvement of a high profile Hollywood actor like Johnny Depp is sure to hog media attention. The actor has also said since he was born and brought up in Kentucky’s suburban area he can relate to this case. According to his opinion, the trial involving the three accused did not stress on facts and evidence much. The jury took the decision to convict them partly because of their interest in Steven King novels and heavy metals.

There are conflicting opinions on the involvement of the accused trio in the murder of the three little boys. The lawyers for the duo convicted for life term recently submitted new DNA evidence to the court. They also gave evidences of jury misconduct. However, their appeal to conduct a new trial was turned down by the judge. It remains to be seen how things shape up after Johnny Depp’s involvement.
