Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show” Tapes Digitized For Fans

carsonAug 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Although John William Carson who is better known as Johnny Carson is no more; the fans of the late American comedian can now enjoy his famous “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” on web. As per reports, the full John William Carson’s collection, which dates back to October 1962 has not only been restored and digitized but also annotated and transcribed for viewers who can now enjoy the episodes of the show on web. Apart from the web venture, the series of the 30 years reign of the Johnny Carson on television will be featured as DVD sets that can be purchased for private possession.

As per reports, the media-only site will be launched within a week’s time and the viewers can browse over the website and pick and choose from 3,300 hours of searchable content. Jeff Sotzing, the president of the Carson Entertainment Group has told to a media source that the website will be developed into an entertainment site where there will be around 40 to 50 clips. These clips will be changed on regular basis. However, Jeff Sotzing mentioned that it will take some time for the full site to come up for the public, adding at the same time that he will not keep the fans waiting for long. He said “In the near future, we’ll offer them the ability to search and select from the full library of shows”.

John William Carson remained the host of The Tonight Show from 1962 to 1992 and was succeeded by Jay Leno. A media source reported that little have been saved of the prints of the first ten years of Johnny Carson’s era on television. However the tapes from 1973 were well preserved.
