Nasaau, Oct 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A former Bahamas senator Pleasant Bridgewater has denied trying to blackmail actor John Travolta after the death of his 16-year-old son as she testified in her extortion trial yesterday, which is going on in the Bahamas.
Pleasant Bridgewater told jurors she was set up by the movie star’s lawyers and complained she has been ridiculed and ostracized since being charged.
“I will be the first to say I am no saint. But I am no devil,” she said.
Prosecution witnesses, including actor John Travolta, have said ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne threatened to sell gossip stories to the news media, which hinted that the movie star was at fault in the death of his son, Jett, unless he paid $25 million. Bridgewater is accused of negotiating for Lightbourne, with John Travolta.
Both the ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne and the senator Pleasant Bridgewater have insisted that medical aid arrived too late to help Jett and that the Travolta’s are responsible for intentionally killing their son Jett.
It may be called that John Travolta with his family was on their vacation home in the Bahamas, when his son Jett Travolta, had a seizure in the bathroom and finally succumbed too, on January 2nd. Then the ambulance driver and the Senator Pleasant Bridgewater tried to extort money from Travolta over this.
The Travolta family has kept a very low profile since this incident.
