December 7th, 2010 - 12:33 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattLondon, Dec 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Just before John Lennon was killed, he and wife, Yoko Ono recorded the “Double Fantasy”. And after three decades, a Boston photographer is here to share more information about the project that he says was shrouded in a lot of secrecy.
Roger Farrington who claims that he got the opportunity to photograph the pair during the project said he was chosen by Yoko Ono on recommendation from her publicist. He gave some detail about the project.
He revealed that he was supposed to act that he didn’t know the couple. He was then required to asked Yoko and Lennon for their picture. That way, the picture session will not attract so much attention.
Farrington then explained that, “I followed them from The Dakota to The Hit Factory and I didn’t even know if I was going to be allowed into the studio.”
The resulting pictures were recently released. Most of the pictures are being shown to the public for the first time since they were taken. They are on exhibition at the Panopticon Gallery at the Hotel Commonwealth. The pictures which are also shown in the book, “Starting Over: The Making of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Double Fantasy” is believed to be the last pictures of Lennon before he was killed in December 1980.
