John Lennon Remains Popular As Ever As Is Shown In Death Anniversary

lennon-toughDec 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Legendary singer John Lennon passed away in 1980 after being shot outside his building in Manhattan 30 years back. As expected thousands of fans flocked to see the stalwart musician for the last time. However, the fans keep returning to the place every year on the day and even two decades after his death there has been no decline in the respect and love that people have for him. This year it was the 30th death anniversary and thousands of people gathered at the famous Strawberry Fields. There was certainly something in him that catapulted him to extraordinary super stardom very few singers or actors manage to achieve. Some people come to the memorial every year on his death anniversary from remote US states and this year it was no exception.

The interesting thing is that the crowd that gathers at his memorial every year contain a number of youngsters who never saw the music legend themselves. They only grew up with his music. However, when the teenagers who are asked why they come to pay homage to a man who was neither a national leader nor someone they saw, they reply the love and peace in his songs that prompt them to return to the same place each year. The star singer would have turned 70 had he been alive today.

To pay tribute to the iconic singer Rolling Stone magazine is going to publish the last recorded interview of John Lennon. It was a long 9 hour discussion that he had with Jonathan Cott. The interview may unveil some unknown facets of the singer who returned to singing after a hiatus.
