Amy Poehler said, “It’s hard to think of a filmmaker who made so many movies so many of us know by heart.” She recalls lines from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” she puts, “When we watch John Hughes movie, we learn that life moves pretty fast. It’s hard to find anyone not moved by John Hughes, we thank you for everything.” John Krasinski cried out, “We miss you,” as glimpses of John Hughes’ movies played in the background.
The Death Cab for Cutie tribute ended with the classic number from the movie “Breakfast Club”- “Don’t You (Forget About Me), while juxtaposed images from John Hughes’ contemporary movies played in the background. Before the show, Death Cab Drummer McGerr told MTV News, “Every movie he has ever made is ingrained in our brains, and ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ is a song we fell in love with.”
