john4Los Angeles, Mar 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Much acclaimed filmmaker John Hughes, who passed away last August after suffering a cardiac arrest, was remembered at the 82nd Academy Award which was held on Sunday night. All the actors who had the privilege of working with the illustrious director were present at the ceremony to give a fitting tribute to the esteemed filmmaker.

The tribute to John Hughes, who is best known for the classic 80’s movies which focused on the ups and downs in the lives of teenagers, was commenced by former teen-flick sweetheart Molly Ringwald who appeared on stage with Matthew Broderick. The duo furnished an introduction to the video package that showcased some of the illustrious work of the reputed director in the form of scenes from all his well known flicks. Just as the video clippings reached its conclusion, a huge array of stars turned up on the stage to showcase their respect to the late director. The actors who adorned the stage to pay their tribute to John Huges included almost the entire ‘Brat Pack’ such as Judd Nelson, Macaulay Culkin, Jon Cryer, Ally Sheedy, as well as Anthony Michael Hall.

John Hughes is known to be instrumental behind few of the best movies of the 80’s and 90’s which received huge commercial success. Few prominent movies in the renowned directors’ career include “The Breakfast Club”, “Sixteen Candles”, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, “Weird Science”, among others. Ironically, although the director was given the touching tribute in the Academy Awards, he did not receive a single Oscar honor in his lifetime.
