john-hughes-01The eminent film director, John Hughes began his successful career as a copywriter in Chicago died of heart attack while on a morning walk in New York this Thursday, where he was present to visit his family. He leaves back his wife Nancy, 39 and two children.

One of his early works that gained considerable recognition is Mr.Mom where Michael Keaton played the leading role. In the 1980s, it was in comedies that he demonstrated his forte with all time hits like Weird Science, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Uncle Buck .

“He was a wonderful, very talented guy, and my heart goes out to his family”, said Matthew Brodrick who acted in his Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, a high-school patterned film. Another actor Jon Cryer who did a role in Pink said that there was a virtue of appreciation that was innately present in the director while dealing with young upcoming actors which made them realize in the director’s company that they must “step up their game”, which is why he could bring out great performances. Molly Ringwald, a sixteen year old actress acted for his first Box Office hit in the year 1984, “Sixteen Candles”. “The Breakfast Club and “National Lampoon’s Vacation” are other achievements of the director who died at 59.

Hughes deviated from his direction in the early 90s but he wrote various children movie scripts like Flubber and Home Alone which appealed to all age groups. His interest in comic writing stemmed back to his early days of writing jokes for Rodney Dangerfield and Joan Rivers. Hughes always maintained a low-profile in the film industry and the latest public photograph of him was when he visited his son in 2001. In 1994 the director almost retired and stayed in Wisconsin.
