Books GrishamNew York, Mar 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) John Grisham’s “A Time to Kill,” shall now witness a stage adaptation which is likely to have its world premiere in Washington in between May And June, 2011. Hyped as a pre-Broadway production,John Grisham’s”A Time To Kill” happens to be the first attempt from the acclaimed novelist. Molly Smith;Arena Stage artistic director had declared that the play will be in performance from May 6th to June 19,in 2011. The play will be housed at the Arena’s Kreeger Theater and will be adapted by Rupert Holmes, who has previously penned down the highly acclaimed musical “The Mystery of Edwin Drood.”

“A Time to Kill” is one of the very best of John Grisham’s first novels that falls under the category of his oh-so-popular legal thrillers. The storyline revolves around the murder trial of a father who takes up the rod against the law itself after his daughter is raped and tormented. It is said that the novel draws its element of inspiration when John Grisham had witnessed the testimony of a rape victim aged 12 at the DeSoto County courthouse in 1984.

It took him three years to finish “A Time to Kill,” which came out in 1987. Strangely enough, it was initially rejected until Wynwood Press took the project.Hollywood already had a movie based upon the novel bearing the same name as that of the book. The movie cast included Matthew McConaughey,Samuel L. Jackson and Sandra Bullock.Daryl Roth, who is an influential New York producer, will be lending a hand in presenting the play in Washington.
