Aug 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) After speculations, and rumors which suggested others would be attached to the film, director James McTeigue has at last made the choice for the starring role in his ‘Edgar Allan Poe’ mystery thriller which will be titled, ‘The Raven’.

The movie is said to be a fictional account of the writer, Poe’s last five days alive, and occurs just as Poe meets Se7en. It tells the story of Poe and a young fresh detective while they hunt down a killer who is using the writings of Poe as an inspiration for his murders. Although it is an act of fiction, the movie does loosely portray the true final days of the writer, as Edgar Allan Poe was found wandering the streets, babbling, and making no sense, seemingly in a dazed confusion. The writer died soon after this occurred.

In the 1960’s, director Roger Corman brought several of the works of Edgar Allan Poe to theatres and many starred the legendary ‘Vincent Price.’ ‘The Raven’ is one of these titles. Poe’s ‘The Murders in the Rue Morgue’, which brought the writer to fame, has also been made for the screen several times.

Cusack confirmed via Twitter that he is, indeed to play the part of Poe. “officiali- will play edgar allen poe in fall-a-film called the raven, send any poe- gold – my way as i begin this journey into the abyss”. (Punctuation and spelling were left as Cusack posted them.)

It is not the first time a movie has been done featuring a serial killer that used Poe’s work for inspiration. ‘Nevermore’, by William Hjortsberg tells the tale of Houdini and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle try to stop a killer who is also murdering in methods like those in Poe’s stories.

Cusack is said to be a good fit for the role, and the movie is expected to be a hit among mystery, murder, detective story-lovers.
