Sep 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actor Joaquin Phoenix appeared on the David Letterman show this Wednesday and apologized to the legendary talk show host about his strange behavior in the last interview. Last year the ‘Ladder 49′ star appeared on the show in what can best be described as a dazed state of mind. He also answered most questions with one or two words and spoke about giving up his acting career to pursue Hip-Hop music. Recently though the actor had revealed that it was all a part of his role for the ‘mockumentary’ called ‘I’m Still Here’ which hit theaters recently.
Joaquin Phoenix donned a strange new avatar over the last one and half-two years for the film which was being shot by his friend Casey Affleck. Casey Affleck had touted the role as a lifetime performance by Joaquin Phoenix but several critics and fans who were unaware of the film found the transformation in the star baffling and somewhat disturbing.
On the show on Wednesday, Joaquin Phoenix said that he had assumed that being such an established interviewer David Letterman would understand the difference between a character and a real person. He, however, apologized and said that he hoped he did not offend him. David Letterman accepted the apology and said that the chance to lob jokes at him after his February 2009 appearance was like batting practice to him. He also said that he had assumed that Joaquin Phoenix had slipped and hit his head in the tub. Wednesday, Joaquin Phoenix appeared on the show clean shaven and talked like his usual self. Casey Affleck who appeared on another talk show hosted by Jay Leno said that no one from Hollywood had called to show concern for Joaquin Phoenix while he was acting strangely all this while.
