June 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Joan Rivers has managed to once again stir up the controversy pot in Hollywood when she urged gay stars not to make their true sexuality known to the world, because “coming out of the closet” could cause damage to their careers.

Joan Rivers is a comedienne who is very well known for being outspoken and saying exactly as she feels. She has recently spoken out adamantly that show business is still very hard for those who are gay and feels strongly that they would benefit from hiding their sexual preferences. Joan Rivers is convinced that stars would be much better off if they kept their love lives to themselves, if they are gay, at least until they have already built an established career.

Joan Rivers used Ricky Martin for a good example of what she thinks the gay Hollywood community should do. Ricky Martin was a famous singer for ten years before he ever admitted t being gay, although it was speculated fro years, he would never confirm it, until March of this year.

In a statement which Rivers made to The Advocate she explained, “If you’re going to be a romantic idol and try to get every teenage girl to love you, then you’d be an a** to come out and say you’re gay. Ricky Martin was so smart. He did what he did, made his millions and then he said, ‘Guess what, everybody? I’m gay…’ It didn’t matter anymore because he didn’t have to bring in 16-year-old girls.”
