Joan Rivers advises gay stars to stay in the closet
June 29th, 2010 - 1:30 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattLos Angeles, Jun 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Joan Rivers has advised the other gay singers to stay in the closet, and not reveal their sexual leanings to the public and to the media. She adds that she is advising them to do so, if they ‘come out with their true sexuality’ then it could hamper and cause damage to their career as well.
She also added that the upcoming artists should not even think about revealing their sexual leanings, as it could have a drastic effect on their career. She also divulged that if they have to really reveal their sexual leanings, then they at least ought to do so when they are established stars, so that the public would be hardly bothered about their sexuality.
According to The Advocate, Joan Rivers said that, “If you’re going to be a romantic idol and try to get every teenage girl to love you, then you’d be an a** to come out and say you’re gay. Ricky Martin was so smart. He did what he did, made his millions and then he said, ‘Guess what, everybody? I’m gay…’ It didn’t matter anymore because he didn’t have to bring in 16-year-old girls.”
