J.Lo, Jane Fonda in the middle of Monster-InLaw suitMarch 13th, 2009 - 3:43 pm ICT by ANI
Washington, Mar 13 (ANI): Hollywood actress Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda have found themselves in the middle of a law suit, with a woman accusing the makers of their film Monster-in-Law of infringing her copyright.
Sheri Gilbert from North Carolina claims that the flick is based exactly on a script she wrote in 1998, about her struggles with her mother-in-law, reports Contactmusic.
Thus she has accused the filmmakers of stealing her work.
According to the lawsuit filed in American District Court in Raleigh, Gilbert and her husband Willie are seeking a share of the near 155 million dollars the comedy made worldwide.
However, according to The News & Observer of Raleigh, North Carolina, an attorney representing movie studio Warner Bros. and 33 other defendants, including Lopez and Fonda, has dismissed claims that the similarities are more than just a coincidence. (ANI)
