JK Rowling named 2007s best entertainerNovember 24th, 2007 - 12:32 pm ICT by admin
London, Nov 24 (ANI): Harry Potter creator JK Rowling has topped the list of 2007’s top entertainers.
US magazine Entertainment Weekly said that the 42-year-old author deserves an accolade for getting people to tote around her big, old-fashioned printed-on-paper books as if they were the hottest new entertainment devices on the planet.
Will Smith, Angelina Jolie and the cast of The Sopranos also made the grade in the entertainers list.
The magazines editors had divided the list into five categories other than the entertainers category. They were - prodigies, class clowns, most popular, most buzzed-about and valedictorians.
Actor, director and activist George Clooney also made it to the list as a valedictorian, because, according to the magazine he has deftly balanced box-office viability with personal responsibility.
Scottish actor Gerard Butler, and troubled singer Amy Winehouse were highlighted as among the most buzz-worthy in the list.
Matt Damon made it to the list of most popular, as did Carrie Underwood, Katherine Heigl, Johnny Depp and Kanye West.
Tina Fey, creator and co-star of 30 Rock, was recognised as a class clown for her hilariously cringe-inducing portrayal of comedy-show producer Liz Lemon in the hit TV show.
“I love going to those uncomfortable places. I’ll go down any weird avenue, the Scotsman quoted Fey, as saying.
The prodigies were Zac Efron, Shia LaBeouf, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus.
