Washington, July 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) America’s national Independence Day brings in its trail a bevy of celebrations and festivities which ignites the patriotic fervor. Keeping up the mood was Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor, dedicated New Yorker Jimmy Smits who hosted the 30th annual Capitol Fourth concert at the west lawn of the U.S.Capitol.
The concert fireworks along with other festivities were captured by 18 cameras stationed all around the American states. David Archuleta and Glady’s Knight were the primary performers at the concert. The First Family along with the honorable military guests of the White House welcomed everyone and formed the first line of the spectators as the fire works illuminated the sky. The host for the evening Jimmy Smits proclaimed how it gives him immense pleasure and fills his heart with pride to call himself an American. He also underlined the fact that its the “combination” of National Symphony and the splendid fireworks which prepares the stage and sets the mood right for the grand occasion.
Country music star Darius Rucker tuned into the mood of patriotism as he performed his usual. Along with him were singer John Schneider and classical pianist Lang Lang. Jack Everly led the National Symphony Orchestra for their performance at the concert.
Towards the evening, actress-singer Reba McEntire was presented the National Artistic Achievement Award for her never ending dedication to “enrich” and elevate the legacy of “performing arts’. Only three other artists has been awarded with the prestigious award before the actress.
