May 04 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The host of this year’s Emmy Awards show, which will air on August 29th has been named. And the winner is…”Jimmy Fallon, come on down!” Comedian, and host Jimmy Fallon was announced to be the choice for hosting the 62nd Emmy Awards broadcast this summer. The show is set to air live coast to coast on NBC from 5 to 8 pm PT or 8 to 11 pm EST.

Although it is Jimmy Fallon’s first time hosting an Emmy, he is by no means new to the work. He has formerly hosted MTV’s Movie Awards and Video Music Awards, and has a very high profile social personality (such as his Twitter ) which could bring in many more viewers. Jimmy has over 2 million followers and follows 225 Twitterers. Fallon got the attention of viewers everywhere when he gave an auto-tuned performance which ended with him falling off of the stage. The different broadcasting networks, such as ABC, NBC, CBS, etc all take turns hosting the Emmy Award Show. In 2006, which was the last time that NBC hosted them, the host was another well-known comedian/ talk show host, Conan O’Brien. John Shaffner, the chairman and chief executive of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, said Mr. Fallon “is a bright, insightful and energetic entertainer who made his name performing on live television, and we welcome him to host our annual celebration of great television as the show returns to broadcasting live coast to coast.”
