Singer Jim Morris performed the soulful version of the song “Can’t You See”, that had originally been sung by Marshall Tucker Band. While sporting dark sunglasses, accompanied by two back up dancers, Jim, had set the stage on fire after grabbing the mic, with his rendition of popular tunes. His efforts were obviously very praiseworthy when taken in to account that he is the President of the local packaging company.
Jim Morris had been the one to kick off the Saturday night’s second Annual Celebrity Sing for Wishes event, which was held at the Gill Street Sports Bar and Restaurant, Gill Street. The event had been organized in an effort to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation, which is in the McLean County area. The principal aim of the Make a Wish Group is to fulfill and grant wishes for children who are affected by life threatening diseases. For fulfilling their noble cause, the foundation organizes charity fund raising event as this periodically.
After his solo act, Morris said, “It’s a fantastic cause. I urge everyone to come out and support it next year.” The results of the initial counting that was done on Saturday night, which included donations as well as corporate sponsorships, had brought the grand total to somewhere between $25,000 to $30,000, as said by local Make a Wish Fund raising chair Dr. Chad Tattini. This amount of money would be enough to fund the wishes of up to five or six children who are affected by the disease.
This year’s celebrity list for the event included almost up to 13 prolific names, hailing from the entertainment sector like TV and Radio and also community leaders. Morris’s name was featured in the list of the top donations.
