London, Nov 15 (ANI): Jessica Simpson and NFL football player Eric Johnson are engaged after just seven months of dating.

The news comes less than two weeks after her ex-husband Nick Lachey announced his engagement to long-time girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo, reports the Daily Mail.

“They are thrilled!” Simpson’s spokesperson said, adding that the couple became engaged late last week.

This will be the second wedding for Simpson, who split from Nick in 2005 after three years of marriage. Simpson filed for divorce from the former 98 Degrees singer citing irreconcilable differences.

But she eventually moved on, enjoying high-profile romances with singer John Mayer - who later said she was like ’sexual napalm’ in bed - and Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo.

Simpson and Johnson began dating in May while he was estranged from his first wife, stylist Keri Johnson. Their divorce was finalised last month.

The ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ star recently gushed about her athlete beau, who has played for the San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints.

“This is just normal, thank God,” she said. “He’s very, very supportive. [I] couldn’t ask for a better man in my life right now,” she said.

As for her newly-engaged ex-husband, she insisted last week: “I couldn’t be more happy for Nick.” (ANI)
