Los Angeles, September 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards was aired on the CBS network on the September 20 and it certainly turned out to be an event to be remembered in the coming days, with stars from the constellation of the television fraternity glittering away gleefully. Though this year’s event is certainly not going to be remembered for springing any particular surprise on the viewers, it was still a memorable event, with the who’s who of the television entertainment industry all gathered together to celebrate the outstanding achievements on television in the specific genres.
Veteran Actress Jessica Lange received the award in the category of “Outstanding Lead Actress In A Made For TV Movie” for her intense portrayal in the HBO made for TV movie, “Grey Gardens.” Upon receiving the honor, Lange has beat a very stiff competition from co-star Drew Barrymore, who was a worthy contender in the category of the lead actress in a mini-series category. The HBO movie also won the award for Best Made For TV Movie. Other than Drew Barrymore, Lange had to face a very tough competition from other such prolific names as, Sigourney Weaver (for “Prayers for bobby”), Shirley MacLaine and Chandra Wilson (for “Accidental Friendship”).
While receiving her award, Jessica Lange had thanked her co-star, Barrymore, “for her great, great heart.” the 60 year old actress looked absolutely ravishing while she came on the stage to accept her award, triggering off a series of wild speculation about her still enviable looks being a boon of either botox or the surgery.
