Los Angeles, Feb 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ronnie Ortiz-Magro of MTV’s hit show Jersey Shore has pleaded not guilty to the charge of third-degree aggravated assault.

The star appeared before a court on Monday over a September 2009 altercation with Stephen Izzo in New Jersey’s Seaside Heights. The prosecution claims that Ronnie knocked Izzo out of consciousness during the scuffle.

The incident was captured on video and was part of the episode of the Jersey Shore show that was aired in January 2010.

Ronnie was late in arriving at the court on Monday and that did not pass without the judge’s scorn. She told Ronnie that, “You are responsible to be here and be on time…You must respect the court proceeding. It is serious.”

Ronnie’s attorney later explained why his client was late for the appointment with the court. Joseph A. Raia claimed that he was outside the court with Ronnie discussing the case.

Raia also hinted that he was considering pretrial intervention program on behalf of his client to ensure that he escapes spending up to five years in jail.

The case has been adjourned to a later date on the 7th of March.
