Jeremy Irvine’s riding woes for ‘War Horse’ (With Images)
January 24th, 2012 - 8:27 pm ICT by IANSLos Angeles, Jan 24 (IANS) British actor Jeremy Irvine had learnt horse riding, but he had to take lessons all over again to perfect it for his role in “War Horse”, set for its India release Feb 10.
“We spent two months of really intense horse training with these Spanish stuntmen. It’s incredible when you see them ride, because they look like they’re part of the horse. I had learned to ride on riding school horses, so I basically had to learn all over again. It was the difference between learning to drive a scooter and being put in an F-1 racecar,” said Irvine.
The Steven Spielberg movie narrates a story of friendship and war. Inspired by a book, which was made into a stage play, and has now been turned into a big screen adaptation, the movie begins with a friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert (played by Irvine) as he tames and trains Joey.
The actor is fascinated with the horses in films.
“These horses are just so sensitive. You just have to think what you want them to do and they go and do it. They’re magnificent. I mean, we’re riding on the original Black Beauty and Seabiscuit. He’s in the film and he’s one of the Joeys,” added Irvine.
