Jenny Conlee has breast cancer
May 5th, 2011 - 11:39 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLos Angeles, May 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jenny Conlee has announced that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing treatment. The Decemberists’ accordion and keyboardist announced her breast cancer on the website of the band.
Conlee is confident that she will recover because she is said to have detected the disease much earlier. The leader of the band, Colin Meloy, assured that full recovery is possible for Conlee based on the prognosis.
Meloy said that, “The good news is that Jenny caught it early…the prognosis is very, very good for a full recovery.”
The band is embarking on a tour and undergoing treatment means Conlee cannot be part of the band. The band will perform nine concerts between May and June and Conlee is expected to miss it all.
Conlee is positive about her recovery as well. In the statement, Conlee said the support of her band and her fans has encouraged her. Nothing is certain regarding the kind of treatment that she will be receiving but Conlee said she is ready for the worse even if it means having to undergo the painful chemotherapy session.
She intends to commence with her treatment as soon as the band ends its current tour.
