Port Elizabeth, South Africa, July 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Hollywood socialite Paris Hilton was taken into custody on Friday night along with her friend former Playboy Playmate Jennifer Rovero at the World Cup quarterfinal match between Brazil and Netherlands on charges of possessing marijuana. However, the authorities have dropped all charges against the socialite after co-accused Jennifer Rovero was pleaded guilty of possessing cannabis.

Paris Hilton and the 31 year old well-known model appeared before a FIFA World Cup courtroom late Friday night after they were detained by the authorities on suspicion of marijuana possession during yesterday’s World Cup quarterfinal match. However, all Paris Hilton fans can now sigh a breath of relief as no charges have been framed against the socialite. Brigadier Miranda Mills, who is a spokesperson of the South African police authorities revealed to news sources that after considering the case the magistrates have taken the decision of dropping all formal proceedings against the socialite. Although charges against Paris Hilton have been dropped, her friend Jennifer Rovero has not been that lucky as the model who has been sentenced to a fine of 1,000 rand or an imprisonment of at least 30 days.

Jennifer Rovero had traveled to South Africa along with Paris Hilton as a freelance photographer, however, her love for soccer seems to have ended in quite an unfortunate manner. It has been reported that police authorities have also stated that officials are taking into consideration whether to initiate deportation proceedings against the former Playboy Playmate model who is an American citizen. Meanwhile, Paris Hilton’s publicist have brushed away the incident as a ‘misunderstanding.’
