Oregon, Jan 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jennifer Lyon, a former contestant of the “Palau” leg of the popular reality show, “Survivor“, passed away at the premature age of 37. She had been battling against breast cancer for the last five years, to which she finally succumbed on the night of Tuesday, Jan 19. She was 37 years old at the time of her death, and passed away in her family residence on Oregon. She had been diagnosed with the ailment since 2005, the same year that she appeared on the reality show. In fact, the prognosis came just a few days after she had wrapped up the show, in which she came fourth.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Jennifer Lyon confessed that she had aware of an abnormal development in her right breast, but did not pay much attention to it as she felt that it was not of much importance. She admitted that at that point of time, she had attributed the growth to some sort of “scar tissue”, a frequent occurrence after undergoing breast implant surgery.

After the diagnosis, Jennifer Lyon went for a form of mastectomy, and also underwent chemotherapy and tamoxifen. Despite the rigorous process, she managed to remain her usual active self, much like the way her fellow contestants at “Survivor” remember her. She organized several fund raising events for the cause of breast cancer research and development. As one of the contestants of the reality show, who starred with her, remarks, she had always been a charming and graceful personality, strong and brave. As Jennifer Lyon herself had remarked, being in “Survivor” showed her the beauty of life, and the importance of accepting the end.
