New York, Feb 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The theme for the Grammy Awards was completely changed on Sunday following the death of Whitney Houston last Saturday. The producers had no option than to acknowledge the contribution of the late singer.

Houston’s remake of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You,” which was used as the soundtrack of the hit movie The Bodyguard, was one of the biggest hits of the singer. At the Grammys last Sunday, Jennifer Hudson paid tribute to the 48-year-old singer when she gave a rendition of the song.

Houston’s version of the song is always a challenge to any singer because of the extraordinary power behind the performance. Hudson accepted an incredible challenge when she decided to perform the track with only a piano.

Hudson was among the many stars who saw Houston as a mentor. During the Grammys in 2009, Hudson was presented with the Best R&B Album honor by Houston. A year later, Hudson paid tribute to Houston at the BET Honors show. Houston was praised during the show for her outstanding contribution as a black performer over a period of 25 years.

Houston was found dead last Saturday. Her death has sent shock waves throughout the entertainment world. Several people have paid their tribute to her.
