Washington, December 27 (ANI): Jennifer Anistons Marley & Me has grossed 14.8 million dollars, beating the 11.8 million dollar-figure raked in by Brad Pitts The Curious Case of Benjamin Button on Christmas Day.
Both movies managed to rock the box office with Anistons flick earning the highest one-day total ever for a film opening on Christmas while Pitts movie set the record for the second-highest opening of all-time.
According to Variety, both the films were said to have gone beyond the box office expectations by 40-50 percent, reports People magazine.
Other strong contenders to the number one spot had been Adam Sandler’’s Bedtime Stories, raking in 10.5 million dollars as against the 8.5 million dollars earned by Tom Cruise’’s Valkyrie in the one-day gross total.
Director Frank Miller’’s Spirit, starring Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johansson, however, managed to gather around 4 million dollars on its first day. (ANI)
