Jay-Z close to signing book deal
July 10th, 2009 - 5:26 pm ICT by ANIWashington, July 10 (ANI): American rap mogul artist Jay-Z is close to signing a deal to reveal the story behind his lyrics in a book.
Executives at Spiegel & Grau, an imprint of Random House publishers, are said to have approached the Big Pimpin’ hitmaker, famed for never writing down his song rhymes, with the book deal.
An article in the New York Observer says that Jay-Z’s literary agent Matthew Guma is in final negotiations for a tome of commentary, reports Contactmusic.
The hip hop star, whose real name is Shawn Carter, may explain the thinking behind some of his most famous tracks in the book.
Meanwhile, Jay-Z has just been named Hip-Hop’s Cash King in a new Forbes magazine poll, with past year earnings of 35 million dollars. (ANI)
