Jay Leno Talks About NBC Late Night Shuffle On Oprah Interview

oprah3Jan 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Veteran talk show host Jay Leno appeared in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, where he divulged his side of the story in the recent NBC’s late night talk show battle with Conan O’Brien. The interview that was aired last night managed to grab many eyeballs as this was the first public appearance of the much acclaimed comedian since Conan O’Brien departed from the “The Tonight Show” following a disagreement with NBC network over time slot.

At the same time, Jay Leno, who had been associated with the show for almost 17 years, also believed that he had been unnecessarily projected as the bad guy in the controversy that ensued after it came to light that he would return as the host of the show. The 69 year old talk show host also revealed that he was taken aback when NBC approached him to take back his old job.In the interview, Jay Leno also reiterated that the network asked him to again take the reins of “The Tonight Show” only after Conan O’Brien refused to budge from his decision.

However, Jay Leno’s return to the show did not stop him from lambasting the NBC network for the manner in which the entire situation was handled. The reputed talk show host emphasized that the network could not have handled the controversy in a worse way. Jay Leno also described the whole episode as “hugely embarrassing” and “agonizing” and added that he would have to give his best shot to win his audiences back when he returns as the host in March.
