jay Aug 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The old quote says that laughter is the best medicine, but in the case of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, healing comes in the form of quite a bit of cash as well, as Jay Leno brings both to aid in the recovery of the area after the devastation caused by the BP oil spill.

There were over a thousand people in attendance to watch as Jay Leno performed over the weekend at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino which is located in Biloxi, Mississippi. The late night star went to the gulf area to help raise money for the Gulf Community Foundation. Tickets for his comedy act were sold at a cost between forty and one hundred fifty dollars.

Leno’s show managed to raise a huge $90,336 to help with the disaster clean up and other things which are needed in the area. He presented the president of the foundation, Rich Westfall, with an oversized check in that amount. Leno then added a contribution of his own to bring Saturday night’s total amount raised to one hundred thousand dollars.

The one night, one show benefit which was performed by Jay Leno, from ‘NBC’s’ ‘Tonight Show With Jay Leno’ was greatly appreciated by those in the area who were so affected by the oil spill.
