Washington, Jan 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Comic host Jay Leno is going to be a keynote speaker at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington. The White House Correspondents’ Association President said that black-tie dinner, which also gets footage on the national TV, would be held this year on the 1st of May.

According to convention, the President who also goes along with the flow and delivers a comic speech, which is eagerly looked forward to, generally graces the black-tie dinner. This dinner is all set to have around 3,000 Washington socialites, with the press and Hollywood celebrities as well. The history behind this event is that, it was formed in 1914, as a liaison between the media people and the White House Presidents that they reported about.

Jay Leno was in the news recently for trying to wrestle the Tonight Show from Conan O’Brien. Earlier Jay Leno was the host of the show, and then Conan became the host. But Jay Leno successfully got back his old show, and Conan had to part ways with NBC, with a severance agreement in place.

Conan O’Brien is barred from working for any other channel before the 1st of September 2010. He is also not supposed to give any kind of interviews to the media and neither can he bad-mouth his NBC bosses, for a short interval of time. And during this time interval NBC has also agreed that it will not also speak ill about Conan O’Brien.
