Javier Bardem quits ‘Wall Street’ sequel
July 25th, 2009 - 2:10 pm ICT by ANIWashington, July 25 (ANI): Spanish actor Javier Bardem has opted out of forthcoming sequel to 1987 film Wall Street.
The Oscar winner was to star alongside Michael Douglas in the film directed by Oliver Stone and tentatively titled ‘Money Never Sleeps’.
Douglas will reprise his role as the ruthless Wall Street player Gordon Gekko, while Transformers star Shia LaBeouf will be playing an ambitious trader who is engaged to Gekko’s daughter.
Bardem was chosen for the role of a risk-taking hedge fund manager, but casting bosses will now be looking for a replacement as the star has confirmed he has quit the project, reports Contactmusic.
A representative for Bardem insists the actor “loves Oliver Stone,” but has had “five or six other offers.” (ANI)
