More than an award ceremony, The Bet Awards this year was a night of tributes for the legendary pop star Michael Jackson and among all who went up the stage to speak on the pop star, the most heart rendering moment came when Janet Jackson took to stage. She was not there as a performer that night but as a representative of her family that has recently being hit by the death of her brother, Michael Jackson.

Janet says, ” My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was too painful.” In an tearful address to the audience, Janet adds, “To you, Michael is an icon. To us Michael is family, and he will forever live within our hearts. On behalf, of my family and myself thank you for your love and support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much.”

Its the second time that anyone among the Jackson brothers and sisters have spoken publicly after his death. Earlier, in a press conference, Jermaine, MJ’s brother had said that paramedics tried for an hour or so to bring back MJ to life, before he was declared to be dead.

According to reports earlier, Janet’s manager said that Janet had been feeling down with grief and devastation due to the unexpected loss of her brother. Hearing about MJ’s death, Janet had been photographed arriving at the Van Nuys Airport Los Angeles to be with her family at Jackson’s house.
Janet Jackson herself is a very popular recording artist and actress and have been known to share a very affectionate relationship with his now late brother, Michael Jackson.
