July 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Animal rights activists are in an uproar over the new ad campaign for ‘Blackglama’ furs, which shows Janet Jackson posing in a series of photos, embellished in fur in a coat which covers the pop icon from head to toe with a caption which reads, “What Becomes a Legend Most?”
But former ‘Baywatch’ beauty says that fur does not become a legend, or anyone else for that matter. In an interview with ‘OUT’ magazine, Pamela stated Jackson was “greedy” to take the job promoting the wearing of fur. “It’s disappointing. She has spoken out against fur before. I don’t know why some people stop listening to their heart. I guess some people get greedy, but it’s sad.”
Blackglama has long been known for using celebrities in their ads, boasting such names as Diana Ross, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Lena Horne, Lauren Bacall, and now Janet Jackson to promote their product. These ads were never before focused on as controversial, until Pamela Anderson and PETA involved.
“If someone would have told me later in life that I would be alongside such legendary entertainers, I would have never believed it.” Janet Jackson states in the promotional video.
But the Senior Vice President of PETA was clearly not happy with Jackson. He issued the following statement, directed straight at the singer herself. “You and I spoke at length about the fur issue. You told me that you were always aggravated at photo shoots when stylists would try to throw fur on you and that you were even wary of wearing fake fur out of concern that it might actually be real or look real in photos and send the wrong message. You were very straightforward and sensible about it. What happened?”
