Jane Lynch to host the Emmy Awards
June 3rd, 2011 - 10:45 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLos Angeles, June 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Jane Lynch has been handed the honor to host this year’s Emmy Awards. This year’s event will be the 63rd of the annual program.
Chairman and CEO of Academy of Television Arts & Sciences John Shaffner made the announcement in a statement. He announced that, “We’re delighted to have Jane Lynch host the Primetime Emmys this year. When our host has comedic, dramatic and musical talents — as Jane proved in last year’s opening number — we know it’s going to be fun for us and for the audience at home!”
The executive producer of the Emmys, Mark Burnett, said he did not have any other name in his mind concerning who has to host the show for this year. He said Lynch was the first and the only name that he considered when he wanted someone to host this year’s event.
Lynch will be hosting the show for the first time but this will not be the first time that she is getting on the stage of the show. During the last edition of the show, Lynch won the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy for her role in the highly successful show “Glee.”
The nominations for this year’s awards will be announced on the 14th of July and the event will be held on the 18th of September. FOX has will telecast the show live in the United States.
